DNA menu options

What if there was a way to generate random phone numbers for the hot prefixes (and presumably geographic areas) in your market which have a high propensity to contain listeners of your radio station(s)?

What if there were a way to then have a computer program dial each of these randomly-generated phone numbers, and attempt to determine if each was a working phone number, an out-of-service number, a Fax machine, an Answering Machine or a mobile/cellular phone?

What if you could then add all the good/valid/working phone numbers to your ComQuest respondent's file, and then have interviewers dial these numbers to screen and recruit prospective test-takers?

Well, thanks to ComQuest's DNA (Dial Numbers Automatically) program, you can now do all this.

ComQuest DNA offers functionality which enables you to:

Generate a temporary list of Random Phone Numbers;

Have the Fileserver dial from this list of numbers and verify which numbers are working/valid;

Import the working/valid phone numbers into your ComQuest respondents file (to then be dialed by interviewers).

Activating DNA

To activate DNA on your ComQuest Fileserver, complete the following steps one time:

Add the following line to the end of the C:\Rhetorex\Rhetload.bat file:

This step loads the Accuload program each time you log-on to the Fileserver (when the standard Rhetorex drivers are loaded.)  Accuload is the program that DNA uses to monitor call progress during outbound call verification.

Add (or edit if it already exists) the following section and entry to the C:\Windows\VBVREL3.ini file:

This line instructs Accuload which tone table to use.  A tone table contains the definitions of sample tones that your phone system might return while verifying random phone numbers.  Examples include standard Ringback, connection, Fax machine, intercept, fast busy, etc.

Add the following section and entry to the C:\ComQuest\Quest.ini file on your Fileserver:

This line enables the DNA menu options (pictured above) to be displayed in the ComQuest program on your Fileserver.  Obviously, these menu items must be visible to you (displayed and enabled), in order for you to select and run them from the menu.

Once these steps have been completed, you will see these menu options under the Data Management / New Phone Numbers menu in the ComQuest program on your Fileserver (DNA utilizes the Rhetorex IVR card to verify phone numbers and can only be run from the Fileserver):

There are three basic steps involved in using DNA:

1. Generate the random numbers for the system to verify

2. Dial and verify those numbers generated.

3. Import any "good/valid" numbers found, into the ComQuest respondent's file

In addition, there is a fourth procedure available under the DNA submenu; Purge Random Numbers.  This procedure will empty the temporary Random file.  The implications in running this procedure are explained in that section of the ComQuest User's Guide.
