Override Settings screen
There are some behaviors that are pre-programmed into ComQuest. For example, there is logic built-in to the Make Calls procedure, so that if an 18-24 Female that previously took the test is scheduled to come up next, but you don't need any more 18-24 Females in your sample for the current cycle, she will get moved to 3-days from today, at which time she will then be re-evaluated.
Generally, behavior such as this example is desirable; it increases productivity by not requiring an interviewer to call someone that we already know will not be qualified to take your test this week. However, there are times when you may wish to override this default behavior. For example, if you've recently changed your demo breaks, and you're now not sure if some of these previous respondents will still qualify, you might want to override the demo/gender qualification logic.
Override Settings are grouped into four themes; Interviewer, Perceptual, Reporting and Scheduling. Within each of these four themes the individual Overrides are sorted alphabetically. So, as new overrides are added in the future, they will not (necessarily) be displayed at the end of the list, but will be mixed in with existing override selections.
The screen shot above depicts the first page of Override Settings. As specific clients request a change in some ComQuest default behavior, there will continue to be more items added to this list. When you select an item in the list, a more detailed description of the behavior that this setting affects is displayed in the text box at the bottom of the screen. If you're still not sure of the implications of this override, please call ComQuest Technical Support! Each of these settings will change some very basic, fundamental behavior of the ComQuest system, and the result may not be what you had anticipated!
To utilize any of the overrides displayed, simply activate the item by clicking on the box to the far left and turning the check mark on. Removing the check mark from an item (by clicking on it) will then turn that setting off.
When you're done viewing or changing any of the ComQuest Overrides, click the Close button to exit this screen. These settings (like most in ComQuest) are global, and only need to be changed on one computer (either the Fileserver or any one of the Workstations; it doesn't matter). The behavior that you have changed will then take effect on all computers in your system, for that database only (in case you have multiple databases on your system). Of course, none of the settings are retroactive; they will only begin to change behavior of the system once you have implemented them.
Existing Override Settings
Overrides are grouped into four main categories; Interviewer, Perceptual, Reporting and Scheduling. Within each group, the descriptions are alphabetized by the first character.
Activate Full Logging in Make Calls
When this is checked, all transactions in Make Calls are written to the interviewers log. This should only be used when requested by ComQuest Tech Support as the logs grow large quite quickly.
Aggregate Interviewer Logging
This setting will log all interviewer activity in Make Calls in a single log; generally LOG.TXT in the C:\ComQuest folder on the Main Fileserver. You should only enable this feature in one database at a time, and you should turn OFF Full Logging (above) when this feature is on!
Allow interviewers to add Respondents in Make Calls
When this is checked, interviewers can press F9 in Make Calls - either right after completing a call, or before making the next call - and add a new respondent to the file. A shortcut button will copy the last respondents phone number, address, etc. Used for multiple contacts in same household.
Call Center Lock-Outs
In a large Call Center environment, there are many things in ComQuest that individual Interviewers don't need access to, such as Fix Files, Change Date/Time, Page Technical Support, Renew License, etc. Enabling this Override hides or disables these functions from Interviewers.
Clear Radio Station Selections Of Panels
When a panelist (previous test-taker) comes up in Make Calls, all checked stations (both Cume & Preference) will be cleared (unchecked), when this Override Setting is on. This, in effect, forces the interviewer to re-qualify the respondent, updating their station listening and also minimizes confusion for them as far as checking and un-checking the correct stations.
Collect Termination Reasons
When this override is on, after clicking on Terminate in Make Calls, interviewers will also have to select the reason for the Termination. Enabling this option also enables the Terminate Disposition report on the menu.
Dial All Calls As 10-Digit Numbers
This option is generally only used by clients that have a digital T1 or VOIP circuit, which does not require that a "1" be dialed before Long Distance calls. When enabled, this option will dial all calls, local and long distance, using the full 10-digit number (Area Code + Number).
Disable Incomplete Alerts
When respondents transferred to the Fileserver don't finish the music test, a scrolling ticker-tape alert is displayed on the interviewers screen in Make Calls. Checking this setting will disable that feature, and interviewers will not be alerted about incompletes or bad transfers.
Display Scrolling Message For Each Complete
When an Interviewer's respondent completes the test a scrolling message informing the Interviewer that the respondent finished the test will be displayed on their screen in Make Calls for one minute.
Don't Use Radio Station Listening As Qualifying Criteria
With this override on, your radio station listening settings (both Cume & Preference) are disregarded when Qualifying respondents. This option is generally used if you're not collecting listening information, or it doesn't matter what stations respondents listen to, such as when conducting a general market Perceptual Survey.
Email Address Collection
Activates and enables the Email Address field in the Make Calls screen and in the Respondent record browses. This optional data field will one day be utilized for re-contacting panels and collecting song score data via their Internet/email account.
Enable Interviewer Monitoring
A supervisor can monitor the Make Calls screen of any interviewer in real-time when this option is enabled. By going to Interviewer Incidence / Real Time Metrics under the Callout menu, and clicking on an active interviewers name, the supervisor will be able to view all field selections and mouse clicks by that interviewer.
English Scripts Default
If you are using dual/bilingual Interviewer Scripts, the second (non-English) language will generally be the default. However, with this Override activated, the first language (English) will be the default, and Interviewers must toggle for the second language. Only use this setting if you have bilingual Interviewer Scripts!
Hide Other Cume/Pref in Make Calls
This hides the "Other" Cume/Pref box in Make Calls. If you don't want interviewers to spend time collecting cume/pref information about all stations in the market, when you activate this feature, they will be able to only select stations from among your first 6 Default stations (No Auxiliary Stations).
Hide Respondent Images
Hides the small pictures of respondents that are displayed in the Make Calls screen
Lock Interviewers Out Of Respondent File
With this Override on, Interviewers are not able to access Review Most Recent Calls, the Schedule File, Review History or the Respondent File. Essentially, they can only Dial Respondents in the Make Calls screen.
Save Take Tests As Completes
When the interviewer clicks "Transfer" button, the Respondents status is saved as a Complete, instead of as a Take Test. This is generally used when you're conducting only Perceptual research, and not testing music. This way all respondents that complete the Perceptual will be counted as a Complete.
Skip Respondents With Email Addresses in Make Calls
When this override is on, any respondent that has an email address will be skipped in Make Calls. Essentially, their Schedule record is rolled forward to tomorrow, so that they will then be contacted/emailed in the next session of invites that go out tonight on the Webserver.
Verify Date/Time When Going Into Make Calls
The first interviewer each day to go into Make Calls will be asked to verify that their computer is set to the correct Date and Time. With this override on, any computer with a Date greater than the most recent call made, or a Time less than or greater than 15 minutes from the most recent call made in the database will be required to verify.
Allow Interviewers To Spell-Check Verbatim Perceptuals
When this is checked, interviewers will be able to click on the Spell Check button at any point while they are typing an answer for a Verbatim Perceptual question. If this setting is not checked, the Spell-Check button will be disabled.
Disable Cancel Button On Perceptuals
Disables (does not allow them to click on) the "Cancel" button in perceptual questions, thereby forcing Interviewers to collect an answer for every question. Unlike the "Quit" button, which lets them exit from the survey, the "Cancel" button lets them skip individual questions.
Disable Quit Button On Perceptuals
Disables (does not allow them to click on) the "Quit" button in perceptual questions, thereby forcing interviewers to collect a full dataset from each respondent. Be sure to always have an answer available to click on for all questions, such as N/A or None, etc.
Don't use panels in Perceptual Reports
When this is checked, any respondents that have been a Take Test or Complete two or more times will not be included in Perceptual Survey results. You can toggle this setting On/Off to observe the difference in Perceptual results. (It only affects the report, not the actual data in the system.)
Force Confirmation on Perceptual Pick List Answers
Interviewers must confirm their selection on Pick List Perceptual Questions when this override is enabled. Leaving this option unchecked will allow Perceptual Pick List answers to be automatically saved when they are selected, without confirmation.
Force Data Collection On Verbatim Perceptual Questions
With this Override on, interviewers must type something in the answer box for all Verbatim questions in your Perceptual Surveys. They are not allowed to move on to the next question, until they have typed at least a single character (or more) in the answer box for each Verbatim Question.
Force Spell-Checking on Verbatim Perceptuals
When this is checked, all answers to Verbatim Perceptual questions will be run through Spell-Check when the interviewer clicks OK. Otherwise, Interviewers may still run Spell-Check manually, from the Perceptual verbatim screen.
Perceptual Survey Only For Qualified Respondents
Only Respondents that are qualified for your music test are given the Perceptual Survey. If the Respondent is not qualified (due to radio listening, demo/gender or ethnicity), they are immediately disqualified and do not go on to take the Perceptual Survey.
Search For Existing Perceptual Answers
When giving the Perceptual Survey to a respondent, a search for existing answers to questions for the current test cycle is made. Any question(s) with answers are skipped, eliminating the collection of duplicate Perceptual answers. Use of this override will cause a slight speed deficiency when beginning the Perceptual during the search process.
Skip Perceptual If Completed In Last 30-days
If a respondent completed a Perceptual Survey in the last 30-days, they will not be given the Perceptual again. A Perceptual survey is deemed a complete when there is a Yes answer for Question 9999. You must either AutoFill a Yes answer for Question 9999 upon collecting an answer to your last question, or have the Interviewer manually answer 9999 with a Yes.
Enable Multi-Directory Clustering
Enables the Clustering menu options under Utilities. Used only if you have two or more directories, and you want to combine data from various databases of your choosing when compiling song score reports. This should be activated in only one database, generally a primary database on your main Fileserver.
Use Cycles Instead of 7-Day Trends
In the Basic 4-week Trend Reports, the Song By Song reports and the Perceptual/Pick List Trend reports, the Research Cycles will be used in compiling results, instead of the week-to-week 7-day periods.
Don't save as Fixed Callback if not between 3-9:00pm
When an interviewer sets a Fixed Callback, and the time assigned for callback is before 3:00pm or after 9:00pm, the schedule record is saved without the Fixed Call attribute, when this setting is checked on.
Don't Use Any Panels
This override will remove the Schedule record from any respondents who previously took a test (whether they completed it or not). While you can set panel limits in Defaults/Panels to 1-100%, this override will prevent ANY panelists from coming up in Make Calls.
Remove Fixed Time parameter if outside calling times.
Any Scheduled respondents that have been set as a Fixed Callback, but also scheduled to be called before 3:00pm or after 9:00pm, will have their Fixed Callback attribute removed (Otherwise they will always be moved forward, and might never come up).
Requalify scheduled respondents that fail based on Demo/Gender
When previously non-qualified respondents come up in the Make Calls screen, if they do not qualify based on demo/gender, they will be brought up on the interviewers screen for re-qualification, when this setting is checked on.
Requalify scheduled respondents that fail based on Ethnicity
When previously non-qualified respondents come up in the Make Calls screen, if they do not qualify based on Ethnicity, they will be brought up on the interviewers screen for re-qualification, when this setting is checked on.
Requalify scheduled respondents that fail based on Stations
When previously non-qualified respondents come up in the Make Calls screen, if they do not qualify based on Stations, they will be brought up on the interviewers screen for re-qualification, when this setting is checked on.
Roll not-qualifieds forward 8-days instead of 3-days
When a scheduled respondent is ready to come up in Make Calls, if they do not currently qualify based on any parameter, they will be moved forward 8-days (1 week + 1 day), rather than the standard 3-days, when this setting is checked on.
