When you browse the test results on the screen, you will see the colors vary from song to song, based on how each song tests. This is the screen where you define what color is used to display the title and artist. You can change the Browse Color settings either by selecting it under the Utilities menu, or by clicking on that tab directly from the Settings & Defaults screen.
Browse Colors screen
There are preset defaults which should give you an idea of how to set up the range for each color. In determining what color to display a song, ComQuest first looks at the settings you have for Red. If the song is less familiar than the value you have entered on the Red line for Familiar or if it's less positive than the value you have entered on the Red Line for Positive or if its burn is higher than the value you have entered on the Red line for Burn, it will be displayed in Red.
If it doesn't qualify to be displayed in Red, the song is then analyzed with this same process based on the values you have entered on the Yellow line, to determine if it should be displayed in yellow.
If the song doesn't qualify to be displayed in Yellow, it is then analyzed with the values you have entered on the Green line, to determine if it should be displayed in green. Notice that the Green test is an and conjunction - before a song may be displayed in green it must pass all three tests - its familiarity must exceed the minimum value you have entered, its positive must exceed the value you have entered, and its burn must be less than the value you entered.
If a song does not qualify to be displayed in either Red, Yellow or Green, it will be displayed in Gray. If you see most songs all the same color, for example all Red or all Green - and your sample size is large enough to expect more "shades of gray", you should adjust these browse settings accordingly. The settings you enter here do not change the scores or affect your data, they only tell ComQuest what color to display those song test results.
